Why an editorial newsletter?

You just got your gorgeous engagement photos—now what? Don't just leave them in a folder on your laptop, give real homage to your unique love story with a beautifully designed, custom editorial that can be a guest keepsake at your wedding, a follow-up thank you piece, or an anniversary mailer. Here are the first steps to thinking about putting an editorial together. I am a visual designer and photographer with years in print and digital design—the powerhouse combo you need to make a truly special piece!

Wedding editorial newsletter custom designed and printed on newsprint.

Step 1: Think about your why

Function over form. Jot list the 1 or 2 stories that truly speak to who you and your partner are and why you're getting married. It's a newsletter, so also list out any informational details about you, the wedding location, and programming.

Step 2: Think about the what

Now add the form. A newsletter unfolds as the reader discovers beautiful layouts of photos mixed with quotes, stories, and fun facts. Do you want to bring readers into a classy tale of love, or entertain with witty playfulness?

Step 3: Gather some inspiration

Pinterest is a great place to start looking at newsletter inspiration and see what content ideas you could play with. In your own home, you can also gather a moodboard of textures and meaningful tokens that could inform the design.

Step 4: Hire a professional designer

I'll help distill your ideas into something that feels more like a narrative, with a cohesive voice and tone. You'll get a timeline for design and production, and I'll manage the project while you focus on other planning.
